what experience did you have with the xbox repair service? I sent mine in because it was playing games very slowly/choppy and some games couldn’t play at all. (it’s an xbox 360) . like 2 days after they received it I got an email stating it was fixed and on it’s way back. For some reason I don’t trust they were able to repair it that soon considering how many they must have to fix. just wondering what other peoples experiences were?
when i got my 360,i got a red ring right out of the box. i called in customer support,and the guy i talked to politely told me that the faceplate just wasn’t firmly attached i guess you could call that an "experience". References :

All 3 times I had my unit repaired I waited between 2- 4 weeks! Maybe you got lucky and they sent a brand new console….GOOD LUCK!
