Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of MARS MATRIX on the Sega Dreamcast video game console system. Does the USA finally send a space ship to mars someday and start a colony? Is there a colonized settlement on the planet mars where people can grow farms and live in peace and harmony? Is there life on Mars? Well, they just found water recently and NASA is supposedly sending people there on a mission someday. Mars Matrix predicts the future. The people on Mars are attacked by Martians who have a huge army of spacecraft that shoot pink and blue lasers and listen to blasting techno music every second of every day. The martians are upset that mankind has disturbed their red planet rave and seeks vengeance in the form of pain and blood and loud, flashy, blinky lights and explosions. Released in 2000 for the Dreamcast by Capcom, Mars Matrix is a vertical scrolling shoot ‘em up or SHMUP and is pretty crazy. You could even call this game a maniac shooter, among the most challenging of the science fiction based SHMUPS. The vertical scrolling gameplay is shown off in the footage as you collect lots of experience point gold cube things and blast away aliens like it’s just no thing. A rare game and fairly collectible today, Mars Matrix is a true classic shooter and worthy of your attention if you like games like Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun and Raiden 3. It would be great to see this game released on a next gen console like the PS3 or Xbox 360 Live Arcade in the future, but this Dreamcast version has great graphics and sound and totally rocks. Classic Game Room season 1 – 8/29/2000

Nobody should let these two near plastic guns. The Game Room blows away anime bad guys and srange creatures in these “straight outta Japan” style shooter.

You play as two winged strippers armed to the teeth and fly around a Final Fantasy or Phantasy Star world with guns blazing. There’s no boring talking to villagers about who did what and why… just shooting.

Classic Game Room reviewed Atari, NES, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast and Playstation… too bad they didn’t get to Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 or Wii.

Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of EINHANDER for the Sony Playstation 1 (which means one hander in German). Is this the best game on the PS1? For that matter, is Einhander the best side scrolling shooter SHMUP ever made? As far as shmups go, Einhander is a maniac shooting game set in a 2d horizontal scrolling distopian future with the feel of Blade Runner. It uses 3d elements and pushed the PSX to its limits with incredible graphics, gameplay, sound and replay value. Einhander is a side scroller like Gradius III IV or V, Thunder Force or Life Force. But this game is different because it uses gunpods and the mechanized arm that controls them. It’s amazing and regarded by some as the best shooter ever made. It also has a light saber, homing missiles and a foxy announcer who teached you things in the training seminar. This game should be remade in 2008, 2009 or 2010 as a Playstation 3 PS3 game or something for Xbox Live Arcade.

This first person shooter kind of game for the Dreamcast had a unique comic book style like the Watchmen mixed with anime references and science fiction. It was a lot of fun to play and looking back on it was an awesome game. For whatever reason this has not come out on the PS3, Wii or Xbox 360.

Classic Game Room was the 1st Classic Video Game review on the Internet for fans, collectors and game nuts. They reviewed Atari, NES, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast and Playstation… too bad they didn’t get to Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 or Wii.

Originally released by Sega in the arcade, it later made it to the Japanese Dreamcast (JPN) and then to the Nintendo GameCube here in the United States. Treasure made Ikaruga for the Xbox 360 online service and made it well with achievements, gamer points and high definition graphics. The genre of this game is a SHMUP, but it Shmups like you’ve never seen it before. This awesome Vertical scrolling shooter, Manic shooter, Shoot ‘em up shooting space ship game is based on a unique polarity system where you ship can absorb enemy fire of the same black or white polarity that your ship is in at the time!! Is there a chance that we’ll be seeing RADIANT SILVERGUN on Xbox Live any time soon? Let’s hope so!
