Classic Game Room HD – RED FACTION GUERRILLA Xbox 360 review

Posted by admin on August 3rd, 2009 and filed under new xbox 360 games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews RED FACTION GUERRILLA from THQ and Volition. This is the 3rd Red Faction game but is it the best? The series returns after nearly a decade and takes place decades after the first game. No longer straight forward first person shooter, this new Red Faction allows the player to run around a huge environment on Mars and destroy practically everything in sight for salvage to help them free mars from the EDF. This CGRHD review of Red Faction Guerilla (not Red Faction Gorilla or Red Faction Gurilla) has gameplay from Red Faction on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (this is the Xbox 360 version, not PS3 version of Red Faction). It has a large storyline and many, many missions and guerilla actions to play out. Destroy things with a variety of cool weapons that can be upgraded along the way. Drive vehicles and wipe the Martian floor with EDF soldiers after smashing them with a huge sledgehammer. While CGR still prefers the original masterpiece, this new Red Faction is a lot of fun thanks to solid programming and GEO MOD 2.0. Yes, Geo Mod has stolen the show and is the engine of destructive mayhem within Red Faction Guerilla. Blast buildings, explode trucks and bring down structures with explody goodness and flying shards of metal. Red Faction delivers Geo Mod 2 and makes CGR want Geo Mod 3 soon! The 360 version has achievement points for Red Faction Guerilla and the PS3 version has Playstation trophies. Coming soon to PC, no word on the Vectrex version yet though.

Part 1 of 2: Watch in High Definition! Classic Game Room HD reviews THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK: AULT ON DARK ATHENA for the PS3 Playstation 3, also available on Xbox 360. This PS3 review of The Chronicles of Riddick ault on Dark Athena has gameplay footage from the video game showing the first person shooter action as Riddick (played by Vin Diesel) is trapped on the Dark Athena and must slaughter everyone and everything in sight. He shines in the darkness, has Riccick-Vision ™ and can see enemies while lurking in shadows, enemies who can not see him. Then leap out and greet your foes with a hail of gunfire from a machine gun or slash them to bits with your Ulaks. The Chronicles of Riddick ault on Dark Athena is a massive game where you can win and unlock trophies and achievement points, collect special feature unlockable content, pictures, artwork and video and have an awesome time. This science fiction first person shooter published by Atari has excellent gameplay and sound and does a great job making you feel like Riddick. At times the game is extremely challenging and mixes a stealth survival game with first person shooter mayhem. Even better than the films, The Chronicles of Riddick ault on Dark Athena is a massive game worth the price. Also included on the disc is a remastered version of the 2004 game, The Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay. CGRHD reviews PS3 and Xbox 360 games as a PS3 and Xbox 360 reviewer reviewing games reviewed like The Chronicles of Riddick: ault on Dark Athena.

Classic Game Room HD – TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 09 Wii review

Posted by admin on July 8th, 2009 and filed under new xbox 360 games | 25 Comments »

Part 1 of 2: Classic Game Room HD reviews TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 09 PRO PLAY for the Nintendo Wii video game console. This EA Tiger Woods 09 review has gameplay and footage from PGA Tour Pro Play 09 showing golfing action from the video game demonstrating why CGRHD likes this game but calls it “unbalanced”. You can play as the ex-Buick spokesperson or any number of other professional golfers in PGA Tour 09. If that bores you then create your own human being or likeness of yourself or Luke Skywalker to dominate the golfing rink. Round after round you drive balls with force into holes (heh heh…), use irons and pitching wedges and putters and crush the opposition without mercy. 18 holes of Ninja Golf? Not this time buddy, this time is 18 holes of EA Sports golfing action gameplay requiring the gamer to master numerous gold courses and winning strategies. Classic Game Room may usually review games with laser beams, space ships and ninja assins. Today we review GORF… GOLF! CGR already reviewed Gorf and that’s a good game. Even better than this one actually. Classic Game Room is the ultimate retro and new school reviewer reviewing modern and classic video games for new gamers and retro gaming aficionados today. For PGA Tour 2010 we request ninjas, laser beams and space ships. It’s a hole in one of footage! This review of PGA Tour 09 is for the Wii but this game is also available for Xbox 360.

Classic Game Room – SEGA DREAMCAST vs. MAGNAVOX ODYSSEY 2

Posted by admin on July 8th, 2009 and filed under new xbox 360 games | 25 Comments »

Classic Game Room HD reviews a competition between two video game console powerhouses, the SEGA DREAMCAST vs. the MAGNAVOX ODYSSEY 2. Which gaming system is the winner, the Sega Dreamcast or the Magnavox Odyssey 2? Watch this detailed review and find out. The Sega Dreamcast is a popular game system that was released in North America in 1999. The Magnavox Odyssey 2 is a classic cartridge based game console released in 1978. In some ways these two game systems could not be more different… in some ways they could not be more alike. The Sega Dreamcast has Sonic, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur and Chu Chu Rocket. The Magnavox Odyssey 2 has K.C. Munchkin, KC’s Krazy Chase, War of Nerves and Invaders from Hyperspace. Each game console costs about $40 today, used, and games are readily available and frequently inexpensive. Sega is well known for the amazing array of arcade titles, machines and game consoles like the Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Megadrive, Game Gear and Sega Saturn. Magnavox is known for…. televisions. Maybe they made boom boxes too, and lots of other stuff. This is an interesting and entertaining look at two video game consoles with short life spans. It didn’t have to be that way, and it doesn’t. You can buy the Dreamcast, Odyssey 2 and stacks of games for a fraction of the price of a new PS3 or Xbox 360. Classic Game Room loves classic retro systems as much as the new ones, and this competition of Sega Dreamcast vs Magnavox Odyssey 2 is one of our finest examples of how completely insane we are. We’ve already compared the Atari 2600 versus the Playstation 2 and the Atari 7800 vs. the PS3 and the Xbox 360 vs. the NES… why not this side by side awesome console comparison? CGRHD!

Classic Game Room HD – RED RING OF DEATH review Xbox 360

Posted by admin on July 7th, 2009 and filed under new xbox 360 games | 25 Comments »

Watch in high definition! Classic Game Room HD reviews the dreaded Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death! Wow, this is not awesome. Although CGRHD likes blinking red things and believes the “red ring of death” or RROD for short, to be an excellent warning sign that something is wrong…. the fact that it even exists is a problem given the high price of an Xbox 360 and the fact that many, many, many people get to play Red Ring of Death when they don’t want to. How does this Red Ring of Death video footage compare to the Blue Ring of Death? Well, there isn’t a blue ring of death. Just a red one. And when you get it that means that its time to contact Microsoft and their Xbox 360 support department and request warranty service. Three red rings, three years of warranty is what they claim. CGRHD is out to review how fast this problem is resolved because we having a working Atari 2600 and 7800 from 1986 as well as numerous Sega consoles that still work, a SNES, Colecovision and Magnavox Odyssey 2. This is the red ring of death. Now lets see how this warranty service works out…. the good news is that Microsoft does respond to emails asap and Im already on the way to getting it repaired.

Classic Game Room HD – DEAD SPACE review Part 2

Posted by admin on June 28th, 2009 and filed under xbox360 video games | 25 Comments »

Part 2 of 2 in HIGH DEFINITION. Classic Game Room reviews DEAD SPACE for the Xbox 360 video game console. This Dead Space review shows gameplay and footage from this amazing game in HD High Definition game play video. Wow! It’s like they made this game for Classic Game Room! It may not have huge Atari sized pixels or ninjas, but what it does have is awesome science fiction ambience, sound design and story telling! You play as Isaac and crawl through a space ship infested with horrible aliens or mutated people, all of whom are trying to decapitate you and rip your limbs from your torso. Gameplay is solid, fast and intense. The video game reminds CGR of Alien, Event Horizon and the video games Bioshock, Resistance and Fallout 3. All good things. Dead Space is somewhat of a horror style 3rd person shooter (should have a FPS first person shooter option) set in space and featuring an awesome Sci-fi movie inspired plot. Hours of boring cutscenes are abandoned in favor of in-game storytelling through some really nice stylized screens and audio logs. There are lots of weapons including cutters and flamethrowers, each gun has 2 different modes of fire. Dead Space is sure to please those looking for a top-notch A-list shooter on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 PS3 or PC. We use the 360 version of the game for this review but we’d imaging, from what we’ve seen, that the PS3 Dead Space gameplay and footage is very similar if not identical. The game is awesome.

Classic Game Room HD – GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR review part 1

Posted by admin on June 26th, 2009 and filed under Best Xbox 360 games | 25 Comments »

Part 1 of 2. Classic Game Room reviews GUITAR HERO WORLD TOUR for the Xbox 360 video game console. It’s the Eye of the Tiger of music based video games as far as we’re concerned, this game is awesome! You can play guitar, bass, drums or sing the vocals. The set list and songs included in the games are incredible and feature Tool, Beastie Boys, Billy Idol, Filter, Bon Jovi, Wings, CCR, Survivor, 311, Blink-182, R.E.M., Van Halen, Metallica, Nirvana, No Doubt, Sting, Coldplay, Korn and many, many more. Sure we’re missing AC/DC and Led Zeppelin but there’s so many choice bands here that make this game a winner. Gameplay is similar to Guitar Hero 3 III and keeps most of what made GH3 a lot of fun, while adding all kinds of new features. More character interaction on stage, better backgrounds and concert settings and a complete character creation mode. Design male and female characters, give them crazy outfits, hair and face paint and more. You can rock out solo or party with your band. The original Guitar Hero characters like Midori and Lars are back as well. There is a song composition mode where you can create, record and edit your own music (we’ll cover that in part 2). Anyway, whew! If you like Rock Band or the other Guitar Hero games you’ll most likely dig this review of Guitar Hero World Tour from the Classic Game Room. CGR has been reviewing video games online since 1999 and is the authority on duct taping Nintendo Advantages to the Nintendo Wii. GH World Tour is available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 PS3 and Wii.

Classic Game Room HD – WARTECH for Xbox 360 review

Watch in High Definition! Classic Game Room HD reviews WARTECH for the Xbox 360 video game console. This game actually has a subtitle called WarTech “Senko No Ronde” but whatever, all you need to know is that it has Sega heritage, features giant robots with guns and is a fast paced, value priced arcade action game. This CGR WarTech review features gameplay footage from the game in high definition so that you can clearly see every “rounder” or giant fighting robot, the nice menu and graphical style and anime feel to the game. The action is smooth, quick and exciting once you figure out the complicated controls. You have guns, missiles, overdrive, B.O.S.S. super-powered fighting thingy doodles and about 8 characters to choose from. It isn’t an anime game per se but the cut scenes, which are recorded in Japanese dialog, have subtitles and Japanese manga style. If a 2 player vs. fighting game with a twist is what you’re looking for check out WarTech. If you want a fast pick up and play, difficult to master video game with a challenge pick up WarTech. If you’ve been wanting a new game but don’t want to spend much, pick up WarTech. For the price this game packs some short thrills just like an arcade game. Classic Game Room reviews Xbox 360 games and is an HD Xbox 360 review recording reviews in full high definition. How is WarTech, is Wartech any good, should I buy WarTech? Your questions will be answered in this review of WAR TECH. Giant mecha robots, mighty machines, overly cute anime.

Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of BIONIC COMMANDO REARMED for the Xbox 360 live arcade XBLA. This Bionic Commando review shows footage and gameplay that will make your head explode with joy. If you loved the Capcom masterpiece, Bionic Commando on the Nintendo Entertainment System from 1988 (the NES ) then you will LOVE this new Bionic Commando also from CAPCOM, masters of bringing old school retro 2d games back with 3d elements but retaining their 2-D charm. 2008 has been a great year on Xbox Live, we got 1942 Joint Strike and now Bionic Commando. This are reports that we’ll be getting a full scale newly made 3D style of Bionic Commando for the Xbox 360 and / or Playstation 3 PS3 video game systems. However I have a hard time believing it’ll be any better than this. Rumor has it that Mike Patton of Faith No More fame and Mr. Bungle is doing voices??? Is that true? Squeeze me macaroni, that’d be awesome. Capcom is also working on releasing Street Fighter 4 sometime soon and Mega Man 9…. Holy crap!! What do they put in the water over there at Capcom, awesome-juice? Give me some! Street Fighter IV will be amazing if this restyled, retooled August 13, 2008 release of Bionic Commando is any indication.

Classic Game Room HD – BLAZING ANGELS 2 for Xbox 360 review

Classic Game Room HD reviews BLAZING ANGELS 2 for the Xbox 360, also available for PS3 and PC. This Blazing Angels 2 review shows gameplay and footage from the WW2 airplane combat arcade action shooting game! This game’s full title is Blazing Angels 2: Secret Missions of WWII and the gameplay is fast and exciting with lots of enemies on screen to shoot down with a variety of World War 2 vintage aircraft. It is a stylized comic book style plot and action game with a cool fictionalized storyline involving the Germans and some kind of super-top secret weapon and lots and lots of airplanes. Destroy ground targets and air targets, tanks, zeppelins, AA gunfire turrets, boats and more. Blazing Angels 2 should appeal to fans of arcade style flight simulators without much emphasis on realism, it should also appeal to fans of FPS first person shooter games who want to try something different. Classic Game Room reviews Xbox 360 games and is a reviewer that reviewed Blazing Angels 2 in high definition. Blaze on!
